Former Chief of Defence Forces, General Samson Mwathethe has been appointed Chairperson of the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI).
Mwathethe was appointed as a Non-Executive chair of the Institute by H.E President Ruto.
President William Ruto confirmed Mwathethe’s appointment as substantive chair in a Gazette notice dated Friday, February 3.
The President as well quashed the appointment of John Waithaka, appointed by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Mwathethe retired as Commander of the Kenya Defence Forces in 2020 after five years in the position.
He was appointed to the position in 2015. Succeeding former Chief Julius Karangi, in what was the culmination of a three-decade military career.
