Ex-Kiambu Governor Waititu Gets Nod to Revise Bail Petition Amid Graft Conviction Appeal

Ferdinand Waititu, the former governor of Kiambu currently serving twelve years in prison for corruption-related offenses, has received court approval to revise his petition for bail.

Waititu had previously challenged his conviction in the High Court, but his initial bid for bail was denied. The court, however, assured that his appeal would be handled without delay.

In a renewed effort, Waititu filed a fresh application seeking to amend his petition.

He aims to introduce new evidence and additional legal grounds to support his case for release.

The court has now granted this request, giving him another chance to push for bail as his appeal process moves forward.

Waititu was sentenced to 12 years in prison or a fine of Ksh. 53.5 million after being found guilty of conflict of interest in a Ksh. 588 million corruption case.

Additionally, he was disqualified from contesting any political office for a decade.
