Exciting Coronavirus update in Kitui County, Since the first case of Corona Virus was confirmed in Kenya on March 13, 2020, the County Government of Kitui has taken measures aimed at ensuring the safety of the public.
These measures include proactive surveillance and isolation of any patient with symptoms that are similar those of Corona Virus (Covid-19).
So far, four patients, who exhibited symptoms similar to those of COVID 19, have been quarantined at the county isolation centre situated at Kauwi level IV hospital. Their samples were submitted to Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) for testing.
The details and the results of the COVID 19 tests are as follows:
1. A 45 year old male admitted on March 20, 2020. Result is negative and he has been discharged.
2. A 17 year old expectant female admitted on March 21, 2020. Likewise the result is negative for Covid-19. She has been transferred to Kitui Referral hospital for management of complications as a result of pregnancies.
3. A 30 year old female admitted from Mwingi Sub-county hospital on March 22, 2020. Results negative for Covid-19. She is being processed for discharge.
4. A 27 year old female admitted from Mwingi Sub-county on March 22, 2020. Results negative for Covid-19. She is being processed for discharge.
Further this morning, a suspected case of Covid-19 was reported in Ngomeni. The patient has been transferred to the County Isolation Centre at Kauwi level IV hospital. The samples from this patient will be sent to KEMRI laboratory in Nairobi for Covid-19 test.
