The Kenya Highway Authority (Kenha) has extended the closure of a portion of Nairobi’s Uhuru Highway by 21 days.

According to Kenha, the suspension, which began on April 30, would last until May 20 due to the Nairobi Expressway’s ongoing construction.

The segment between Bunyala roundabout and Nyayo Stadium roundabout will be affected by the 21-day traffic disturbance.

The closure will begin only one day after a 20-day closure that started on April 9 and ended on April 29.

Motorists leaving town on the Uhuru Highway must take Bunyala Road, Workshop Road, and Lusaka before rejoining Mombasa Road at the Nyayo roundabout.

Kenha also encouraged drivers to adhere to traffic calming plans and obey traffic signals.

The Nairobi Expressway development has already triggered traffic jams on Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway, and Waiyaki Way, forcing motorists to use the Industrial Area, Jogoo Road, or South B as alternate routes into and out of town.
