The Kenya Defence Forces Engineers Brigade’ Water Drilling Squadron (WDS) have successfully drilled 4 water boreholes at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The team has also rehabilitated 2 pre-existing boreholes that were unserviceable and target to drill 2 more boreholes.

These are part of Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) geared towards alleviating water shortage at the airport.

The airport has been suffering from periodic water shortages, which is indeed risky for an airport.

The most recent disaster was a damaged water pipe that supplies the precious commodity to JKIA, Mlolongo and its environs.

To allow for maintenance, the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company has turned off the water supply to the whole Nairobi Central Business District.

The company said in an online statement on Wednesday that the supply cut would encourage its team to restore water pipes destroyed by contractors operating on the expressway.
