Fake Magistrate Detained For 14 Days

On Tuesday, a Nakuru court ordered that fake ‘magistrate’ Victor Kiprono Ng’eno be held in police custody for another 14 days.

Ng’eno was accused of collecting money under false pretenses and impersonation before Senior Resident Magistrate Rose Obata.

The investigating officer informed the court that after the suspect was arrested, a number of other complaints were filed against him, some of which came from outside of Nakuru.

Ng’eno has not yet been fully identified, had his fingerprints taken, or been submitted to an identification parade, according to the officer.

The prosecution requested that the suspect be held for 14 days in order for the police to complete their investigation.

In her judgment, Magistrate Obata allowed for the detention time, stating that the subject would be discussed on October 26, 2021, for additional instruction.

Ng’eno was apprehended in 2018 for reportedly impersonating a magistrate in Nakuru and receiving Ksh.1.6 million from a man while doing so.
