Ford Kenya’s Wafula Wakoli Cleared To Vie For Bungoma Senator

The Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission has cleared David Wafula Wakoli of the Ford Kenya party to run in the December 8 Bungoma senatorial by-election.

Bungoma County returning officer Grace Rono cleared Wafula on Friday morning.

Wafula Wamunyinyi, an Azimio la Umoja candidate, is also expected to submit his papers to the IEBC for clearance later today.

The IEBC is expected to release the complete list of those cleared to run for the seat left vacant by Moses Wetangula, who resigned to run for National Assembly Speaker and won.

Wakoli, speaking at the IEBC offices after presenting papers, urged Bungoma residents to support his bid to replace National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.

“The journey has started. Let us ensure that we win this seat and grow Ford Kenya,” Wakoli said.

Wakoli was a teacher and Wetang’ula’s long-term personal aide before entering politics.
