The Daughter to the first spy chief of Kenya, James Kanyotu has passed on. Alessandra Gathoni Kanyotu died at a Malindi hospital after a short illness.
Gathering had been admitted at Afya hospital in malindi after being taken ill.
She leaves behind two brothers John and Chris.
The Kanyotu family has been embroiled in a succession dispute over the property of the Moi era spy chief.
Her body was flown to their Red Hill home this morning from Malindi.
Kanyotu was at the helm of the spy agency during the infamous Mwakenya crackdown that elongated former President Moi’s 24 year rule.
His chequered career was delt a mega blow by the Goldenberg scandal in which he was adversely mentioned along side Kamlesh Pattni.
However, no court of law ever confirmed the allegations against him.
