Four people were killed in a road accident at Athiru Gaiti in Igembe South Sub County.
This comes after a Miraa pick-up (Landrover) lost control due to brake failure, with the vehicle carrying an excessive number of passengers at the time of the accident.
Medical superintendent for Nyambene hospital Dr. Githu Wachira stated that they received 32 patients to attend to and that 8 cases were referred to Meru level for medical attention due to injuries sustained, confirming that the accident claimed four lives.
One of the survivors, David Mugambi, stated that he was seated with the driver, and the driver claimed that the brakes failed at the time of the accident, only to discover later that he was in the hospital.
