Former Deputy President and Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has called on Kenyans to reject both President William Ruto and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja in the 2027 General Election, signalling intensifying political debates ahead of the vote.
Addressing a large crowd in Nairobi’s central business district, Gachagua urged residents to “kick out Ruto and Sakaja in 2027,” asserting that the current leadership has failed to address key urban challenges, including deteriorating living conditions and governance concerns.
Gachagua’s remarks come amid broader opposition efforts to mobilise support against President Ruto’s re‑election bid. He emphasised the need for alternative leadership and pledged to rally citizens around political change ahead of 2027.
Political analysts note that Gachagua’s statement reflects deepening divisions in the political landscape, highlighting voter frustrations and the opposition’s strategy in urban centres such as Nairobi. Observers say his public call is likely to spark debate on leadership performance and governance as the election approaches.
