Garbage Truck Driver Shot Dead On Thika Road

A garbage truck driver was shot and killed in cold blood while waiting for his truck to be filled with litter along Thika Road on Thursday night.

The driver identified by his colleagues as only Maina was driving a lorry contracted by the Kenya National Highway Authority to collect litter on Thika Highway when the incident happened at about 10 pm.

Maina had driven the lorry up to the Utalii Tunnel and was waiting for the collected litter to be filled when a salon car pulled alongside his truck.

According to witnesses who survived the incident, one gunman jumped out and walked to where the driver was, shooting him six times before running back to the car and driving away.

The attack did not injure the other six men who were loading the garbage.

Nairobi police boss James Mugera stated that the motive for the attack has yet to be determined.
