NTSA Director General Sent On Compulsory Leave

The National Transport and Safety Authority’s (NTSA) Director General, George Njao, has been placed on administrative leave.

At a news conference on April 24, NTSA Board Chair Aden Noor Ali said that Njao had been placed on a 30-day mandatory leave of absence so that the organization could investigate the alarming trend.

An ad hoc committee, according to Ali, had been established to assist with the inquiries.
Cosmas Ingeso has been selected by the board to perform as the DG.

The board also suspended the operating permits of other matatus Saccos whose vehicles had been in deadly collisions in the previous 30 days.

The Tahmeed bus company is among the Saccos that have been impacted when one of its buses was involved in an accident on Monday, April 17, 2023, close to Kibunja on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway that resulted in the deaths of four people.
