Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has distributed 300 bags of maize and 100 bags of beans to starving residents of Ganze constituency.
This has been occasioned by a major drought in most parts of Kilifi county.
The food donation was distributed during the launch of 56Km Bamba-Ganze Road.
“The ongoing drought, which was declared a national disaster by President Uhuru Kenyatta in September, has ravaged 10 counties so far, with Kilifi County being one of them. As a Government, we have deployed all our resources under the Disaster Response docket to assist affected households with water and relief food as well as livestock uptake,” said the Governor.
He said his administration will work closely with the national government to establish a comprehensive drought mitigation plan.
