Controversial Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza apologized to MCAs 70 times on Wednesday after the court halted her impeachment.
The governor, who was holding public engagements on Ward Fund in Maua, paused midway and asked the pastor present to assist her in apologizing seventy times to represent the 69 MCAs and county assembly.
In a dramatic video released on Wednesday, Kawira counted from one to 70, just hours after a Meru court barred the impeachment motion against her. When a number was mentioned, Kawira’s supporters replied with the word “sorry.”
She asked all MCAs to forgive her if she had wronged them and also took advantage of the opportunity to invite them to a meeting to discuss the next steps.
On Wednesday, the High Court dismissed the impeachment motion against Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, ruling that the county lawmakers did not follow the proper procedures.
According to Justice Wamae Cherere, the Meru County Assembly did not follow proper procedure in initiating the motion.
The court ruled that the procedure was flawed and that Governor Mwangaza’s rights were jeopardized.
The court, according to the judge, was required to protect the governor’s rights during the impeachment process.
