Governor Sakaja Launches Nairobi’s First Public Eye Hospital

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja yesterday inaugurated Nairobi’s first public eye hospital at Mama Lucy Hospital-Umoja 2 Annex in Embakasi West.

The facility, which is a fully equipped hospital, will offer a full range of eye services including eye examinations, prescription glasses, treatment and surgery among other health services.

It will have two operating theatres, a 28-bed in-patient ward, a laboratory, an optical dispensary and a pharmacy.

Sakaja added that Nairobi residents will not have to dig deeper into their pockets to access the services offered at the eye hospital.

“It is important to emphasise that this eye hospital is an affordable public facility. Whatever your financial situation, you will be able to get the help you need here,” he said.

The Governor added that during last week’s camp, there was a significant 40% flow of patients from outside Nairobi County.
