Govt Extends Mass Insecticide Treated Nets Campaign to Kisii, Nyamira

The Mass Insecticide Treated Nets Campaign is being extended by the government to Kisii and Nyamira Counties, which have been classified as high-risk areas for malaria, in accordance with the World Health Organization’s strategy for eliminating malaria.

The campaign’s distribution efforts are aimed at 22 counties, including these ones.

In addition to proving to be successful, the anti-malaria effort has been a shining example of advancement. It has made remarkable progress, providing treated nets to 93% of the targeted families; the remaining 7% are the focus of a continuing mop-up effort.

In these counties, social mobilisation, household registration, and advocacy are being actively carried out by a multi-sectoral team.

The government is deploying digitization, from registration to the distribution of nets to recipients, through a system called ‘dig-mal’ to enhance efficiency and transparency.

This initiative, marked by the slogan ‘Malaria is preventable!’, emphasizes the need for everyone at risk of malaria to sleep under Insecticidal-Treated Mosquito Nets every night and every season.

The call to action, #Jiandikishe and Lala ndani ya net, encourages participation in this critical effort to combat malaria.
