Anti- Riot Police officers have been deployed around Migori County Assembly as MCAs meet to discuss a possible impeachment motion against governor Okoth Obado.

The officers, who were seen milling around the busy Migori town were alerted over an alleged plan by a section of residents who vowed to disrupt the process.

Governor Obado was blocked from accessing his office after the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji preferred corruption charges against him and his entire family.

They were accused of misuse of public funds amounting to Sh73.4 million, which was traced down to Obado and his family members.

Prior to the debate, Migori County Speaker Boaz Okoth claimed his life was in danger, after unknown assailants broke into his house, moments after meeting MCAs.

The impeachment motion may be thwarted after it was reported that sharp division amongst ODM county assembly members over ‘punishing Obado for switching sides to support Ruto’.

Governor Obado has faced challenges ever since he switched camp to support Deputy President William Ruto.

He is currently facing other court cases including the death of his fiance Sharon Otieno, who was found dead in a forest.
