BY BONIFACE MUUSYA – The victory saw Stars keep alive their Africa Cup of Nations Hopes, having lost 2-0 in their first match against Algeria.
A brace from Michael Olunga and Johanna Omolo were enough to give Stars the win, with Simon Msuva and Samata finding the net for Taifa stars.
Tanzania took the first lead on the sixth minute after a through pass found Samatawho unleashed a stinging shot that wasparried by Patrick Matasi, only for Msuva to tap into the back of the net from close proximity.
The Stars kept pushing and creating chances and were almost rewarded in the 23rd minute from a corner kick, which the keeper first palmed on to his own crossbarbefore Olunga’s header bounced away off the woodwork as well.
The second half started on a slow note as both sides struggled to win and maintain possession, with Kenya looking the sharper of the two teams.
With little action and the match headed for a draw, Kenya popped up with eight minutes to go to take the lead for thefirst time in the match, and it was Olunga doing the damage after taking a touch with his back to goal but his left shot got in off the post to give Stars a 3-2 lead
