Health Ministry responds to quarrantined Homabay Covid-19 mourners

Health Ministry has been put to task to explain Homabay’s coronavirus case, where a group of fake mourners were intercepted on their way to a funeral.

While speaking to local media stations, Health DG, Dr. Patrick Amoth refuted claims that they had held Kelvin (the driver) and his passengers falsely, while confirming that they were indeed Covid-19 positive.

“Kelvin is our case number 257, he was tested at KeMRI, Kisumu & his results came back positive for covid-19…he is one of those people who are asymptomatic but test positive & that forms about 56% of the total number of people who we have tested & have turned positive” –Dr. Amoth said.

Kelvin, has reached out to many media stations telling his side of the story that conflicts the governments narrative.

The driver says he was picked up by health officials and forcefully whisked away to the Kenya Medical Training College for mandatory quarrantine without testing.

While announcing the ordeal, the Health minister Mutahi Kagwe’s story was that the driver had been in the company of other mourners, and failed to provide authentic documents to authorities.

The Health DG insisted that the patient was positive, despite being asymptomatic, but said the patients had to be kept in hospital to avoid the risk of contaminating other members of the public.

The government has put inplace measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus, despite constant disregard by members of the public.

In the most recent sction, citizens found flaunting the imposed 10 hour curfew would be put under forced quarrantine.
