I Don’t Own A Gun, I Have Never Shot Anyone – Jumwa Tells MPs During Vetting

The CS nominee for Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Aisha Jumwa has admitted that she has never killed anyone in her life.

Speaking while appearing before the National Assembly Committee on appointments on Tuesday, she told the MPs that she doesn’t even own a gun.

“I don’t own a gun. I have never in my life applied for a gun. I am clear in my mind that I never shot anyone,” Jumwa added.

The former Kilifi gubernatorial aspirant was charged with the murder of 48-year-old Ngumbao Jola on October 15, 2020, when chaos erupted during a by-election.

Several other people were injured in the chaos, including police officers.

Jumwa and her aide Geoffrey Okuto were charged with the murder of a man during the chaos that erupted during the Ganda Ward by-election.

However, on Tuesday, Noordin Hajji, the Director of Public Prosecutions, filed an application to have a murder case filed against Jumwa settled outside of court.

Hajji, through Senior Assistant Prosecutor Vivian Kambuga, stated that the second accused person, Jumwa, desired to settle the case outside of court because she was not the primary suspect in the case.

“There are ongoing negotiations with the victim’s family, to have the matter settled outside court in relation to the second suspect,” she said.
