Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said he has no role within the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition, distancing himself from leaders who have aligned with the government.
Kalonzo emphasized his commitment to leading a faction dedicated to safeguarding the country’s future, stating, “I have no role in Azimio la Umoja, but I’m leading the others so we can anchor the country so it does not turn to the wrong direction.”
Kalonzo urged Kenyans to unite and resist divisive politics, advocating for a collective stand for justice. His comments come amid discussions with Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa, as both politicians hinted at the possibility of forming a new political entity that would provide alternative leadership for the nation.
“We are still consulting widely,” Kalonzo noted, adding, “A good idea always gives way to a better idea. What we are thinking about is a better idea. We are looking ahead and we are very consultative.”
Despite his apparent shift away from Azimio, the former Vice President cautioned against prematurely dismissing the coalition, suggesting that it might play a role in any forthcoming political alliance. “I want to urge the media not to bury Azimio before it is actually dead and buried. If we come up with a new outfit, it could even incorporate perhaps Azimio itself,” he remarked.
