IG Koome Appoints Bungei As Nairobi Police Commander

On Monday, Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome announced new changes to the service, including the appointment of Baringo county police commander Adamson Bungei as the new Nairobi police chief.

Bungei replaces Manasse Musyoka, who had yet to take over the position, a week after being named to replace James Mugera, who has since retired from the service.

Bungei was previously the OCPD for Buruburu and Central before being transferred to Baringo two years ago.

Munga Nyale was also transferred to Kenya Police Headquarters and appointed as the director of police reforms.

Abdallah Komesha, who was recently transferred to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters as the head of personnel, has been named the new principal deputy to the IG, succeeding Nyale.

Boniface Maingi, the former director of personnel for the National Police Service, is now the director of operations. He succeeds Rashid Yakub, who was appointed director of the Community Policing wing.

Judy Lamet, the director of Vigilance House’s Child Protection Unit, was promoted to deputy director of police operations.

Jacinta Muthoni has been named director of personnel at Vigilance House, the police headquarters.

These are the most recent changes made by Koome.
