Interior CS Matiang’i summoned to answer graft allegations

A court notice has been served to Dr. Fred Matiang’i over his alleged involvement in the Ksh. 1.5Billion Ruaraka land saga.

In a document seen by Uzalendo News, the Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Interior & Coordination of National Government will appear alongside the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, as well as the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

Filed by one of Deputy President William Ruto’s henchmen Dennis Itumbi, Matiang’i and his co-accused were allegedly responsible for irregular payments which Itumbi says is an attempt to steal public funds.

“They have chosen to cheer the suspects who clearly engineered the Saga. As Kenyans we are not powerless. There is no doubt that CS Matiang’i is a powerful man… Matiang’i on this matter did everything right but his eyes were focused on the public coffers.” Itumbi said in a presser.

Itumbi added that the decision to prosecute will not cost the government a dime, as he will fully fund the process.

“Unlike the DPP, I will fully fund the process from my own means. Iam a pig farmer, and an avocado farmer.”

Itumbi further announced that two politicians, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah and Nairobi governor Mike Sonko have already co-signed to be witnesses over the case.

EACC said about 30 people who include lawyers, bankers, government officials and family members are involved in the saga.
