Cops Awarded After Forensics/Sex Crimes Investigations Training

The International Legal Enforcement Agency (ILEA) awarded six Kenyan police officers certificates on Wednesday for successfully completing a Forensic/Sex Crimes Investigations Course.

In a brief ceremony held at the Kenya Police Service Headquarters Vigilance House, David Ryan Williams, a Special Agent at the US Embassy – Kenya, presented the certificates to the graduands, according to the National Police Service (NPS).

Edward Mbugua, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, presided over the event.

Mbugua thanked the US Embassy delegation and ILEA for the partnership, which he said will play a critical role in addressing SGBV concerns in the country while noting that the training provided to officers complemented NPS’ resolve to provide service with dignity to survivors of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence.

The DIG urged the graduates to be more approachable, proactive, and responsible in carrying out their public duties.

Special agent Williams praised the graduates for their cooperation, eagerness to learn, and deep passion for policing throughout the course in his remarks.
