IPOA Probes Police Negligence In Fraud Expose

The Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) has taken over investigations into alleged police negligence of duty in investigating fraud.

The ordeal that was uncovered by Uzalendo News, saw one Fanuel Kaimenyi lose hard earned cash to a fake recruitment drive.

However, upon reporting the incident, Fanuel was told by Police officers attached to Jogoo Road Police Station, to cough up 10,000 to have the suspects tracked.

IPOA committed to follow up on the expose, that links senior officers to negligence and extortion.

Fanuel was conned by criminals who posed as Foreign Affairs CS Rachel Omamo.

He was urged to send money to secure a position in a non existent recruitment exercise.

However the criminals, who are allegedly holed up in Industrial Area prison are yet to be arrested.

There have been a spike in cases of cyber crime through impersonation of key government officers.

The government, through the communications authority of Kenya is seeking to resolve this using a SIM Card registration process.

The exercise which is set to end on 15th April 2022, will aid faster tracking of criminals who operate with fraudulently registered SIM Cards.
