BY PRUDENCE WANZA – Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, leader of Islamic State died yesterday during a raid by US Special forces in North-west Syria.

According American reports eight US Special Forces helicopters swooped down onto a remote corner of northwest Syria where they fired couple of buildings and knocked a hole in the wall.

Thereafter they engaged in fire with a number of defendants inside, they then chased Abu Bakr down a tunnel using attack dogs. He is said to have taken three of his children with him as human shields. He was wearing a suicide vest which he then detonated.

US president Donald Trump announced his death saying that capturing Baghdadi has been at the top national security in his administration.

Trump who was impressed by the operation of the American personnel said that no US personnel lost his life while a large number of Baghdadi’s fighters were killed with him.

“Last night the United States brought down the world’s number one terrorist leader to justice…Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is dead. He died like a dog, he died like coward. The world is now a much safer place.” President Trump announced.

Baghdadi who was born 1971 in the Central Iraqi city of Samarra has been the leader of the Islamic State of ISIS and came into prominence in 2014.

According to a report by the BBC, Baghdadi established a self proclaimed “caliphate” in 2014,in which he demanded allegiance from the worlds Muslims.  Around eight million people were under its control at one point with billions of dollars being earned out of extortion and taxes.
