Amos Kimunya has the proverbial nine lives of a cat.
In 2008, Kimunya, then a finance Minister masterminded the sale of the Grand Regency Hotel to Mohammed Gaddafi.
The hotel was sold in a controversial private treaty, vide a fake Government to Government arrangement.
Kimunya, acting on advice from a compromised cable of state officers allowed then Central Bank Governor Njuguna Ndungu to auction the hotel and recover a debt owed to the Government by the Government.
Before that, Kimunya, the first lands Minister in the Kibaki administration was used to recover thousands of acres of land belonging to former President Moi.
Among the lands Moi lost included 10 acres at Sunshine High school.
But once the system was done with Kimunya, he was kicked out like a dog from the cabinet and forced to the backbench.
Kimunya was neutralized by former Senator Boni Khwalale.
But his troubles did not end there. Kimunya was rejected by the people of Kipipiri and replaced by his former PA.
Although he had vowed never to resign opting to die, he swallowed humble pie and quit as finance Minister. Later he bounced back as Minister for Trade.
