By PRUDENCE WANZA– Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced the promotion of 74 magistrates.
According to a memo by the JSC chief registra Anne Amadi the promotiion follows after a ten day interview from 19th to 28th of February.
“I wish to notify you that the Judicial Service Commission at its meeting held on March 12 approved the promotion of these Magistrates as indicated against their names,” read a statement signed by Amadi.
11 judicial officers were promoted to the position of Chief Magistrate.
They include Wachira Muthoni, are Nderitu Elena Gathoni, Nyarangi Elizabeth Juma, Katiwa Usui Elizabethand Ithuku Alex.
Others are Onyango Dickson Odhiambo, Mutuku Martha, Oluoch Charity Chebii, Lutta Nathan Shiundu, Onyango Lucas Onyina and Ole Keiwua Daniel.
17 other judges were also promoted to the position of senior principal magistrates.
JSC also promoted 46 judicial officers to Principal Magistrates.
Chief Justice David Maraga is further expected to preside over the admission of over 400 newly qualified lawyers.
