ODM Pointman Junet Mohamed has issued a public apology to people living with albinism after a slur at nominated senator Isaac Mwaura went sour. – By Gerald Gekara.
The Suna East MP said his sentiments instead targetted the character of Mr. Mwaura, which he claims is hiding under the umbrella of people with disabilities when committing ‘political atrocities’.
“I want to apologize to people born with albinism. My comments in no way reflects my opinions of them as upstanding citizens of our county. My comments were directed at the rotten character of Isaac Mwaura who exploits his disability for personal gain and incitement of violence.”
Prior to his apology, several leaders condemned the sentiments made by Junet, terming them as substantial in jailing him for spewing hate against people living with disabilities.
Nominated Member of Parliament David Ole Sankok issued a 14-days ultimatum to respective arms of government to arrest Junet.
Mr Sankok called on the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to take action against the MP, said the 6.5 million PLWD will defend the rights of senator Mwaura through press statements.
“During the protest we will also invoke a curse against MP Mohammed and 4 generations after him where we will face at the sunset naked while cursing him,” he added
In a press conference Sunday, Kenyans living with disabilitiesfurther condemned the remarks.
