Junet Mohamed, the secretary general of Azimio La Umoja, has denied the authenticity of a leaked audio in which a man is heard discussing setting up a “high level meeting” with IEC officials (IEBC).
Junet quickly refuted the audio in a press release on Sunday, calling it fake and an act of malice from people who are against him.
The statement also recommended that an immediate investigation be launched to identify the offenders and hold them accountable.
“Hon. Junet urges the public to ignore the video, which appears to be one of the last desperate acts of a dying polytical campaign that has been based on years of lies, innuendoes, mudslinging, arrogance, chest-thumping, name calling, insults and now on a sympathy-seeking spree.”
In the audio recording that is going viral online, a man was heard asking an alleged representative of the electoral body to charm Wafula Chebukati and the head of the commission Hussein Marjan in vernacular.
