Justice Byram Ongaya has been appointed as the new Principal Judge of the Employment and Labour Relations Court (ELRC), succeeding Justice Maureen Onyango, who has held the position for the past five years.
Justice Dr Smokin Wanjala, Director of the Kenya Judiciary Academy (KJA), presented Justice Ongaya with the Certificate of Election and congratulated him on his achievement.
Justice Ongaya was appointed to the Land Court after beating out Justices Jorum Nelson Abuodha and Nzioki Wa Makau, who were also candidates.
While accepting the certificate, Justice Ongaya expressed gratitude to the judges for their confidence in him to serve as their Principal Judge.
He acknowledged the court’s heavy workload and asked judges, the Judiciary administration, and various stakeholders to assist him in carrying out the ELRC’s mandate and the Judiciary’s vision of Social Transformation through Access to Justice.
