Former speaker Gathii Irungu has been appointed as secretary general of ex-Kiambu Governor William Kabogo’s Tujibebe Wakenya Party.

Speaking to the Star on Friday, Irungu said the party will play a key role in the 2022 General Election.

He said he has been serving as secretary general from the day the party was issued with an interim certificate.

Gathii said Kabogo is the party leader and Enoch Monari is the chairperson.

He said the party is in the process of registering offices across the country while continuing with member recruitment.

“We are ready for the 2022 General Election and we are sure that our party will form the next government,” he said.

For the party to be fully registered, they are expected to recruit at least 1,000 members in at least 24 counties and open offices that are fully operational.

Kabogo has said he will vie for the presidency using the party.

He urged party leaders to include all tribes in the governing bodies of their parties.

He said Tujibebe Party will play a key role in uniting Kenyans.

“We as party leaders should try to unite Kenyans by having all Kenyans represented in the parties,” Kabogo said.
