Expel Senator Karen Nyamu – UDA Member Asks Ruto

Following her outbursts in Dubai over the weekend, Senator Karen Nyamu Njeri now faces expulsion from the UDA party and, subsequently, the Senate.

A member of the National Youth Congress  Jephnel Nyakwama Orina has written to UDA Party Leader President William Ruto requesting that the nominated Senator be expelled for her conduct.

“As members of the National Youth Congress we are deeply disappointed and embarrassed by the conduct of the Senator who appears intoxicated and disorderly in what appears to be a nightclub,” Orina said.

“Her actions have brought ridicule and greatly tainted the name and reputation of the Party leader and the party. In view of the forgoing, we recommend the immediate expulsion of senator Nyamu Karen Njeri from the party and subsequent expulsion from the senate.”

The expulsion, he said, is pursuant to Article 103(1) of the Constitution of Kenya and section 37 of the elections act.

According to Orina, the senator violated the party’s Constitution following an incident at a Dubai club.

He was caught on camera causing a commotion at a club where her openly acknowledged baby dad, Kikuyu musician Samidoh, was performing.

“We are deeply disappointed and embarrassed by the conduct of the senator who appears intoxicated in what appears to be a nightclub,” Orina said.

“The conduct of the senator in our view is in contravention of Article 75(1) of the Constitution of Kenya and the United Democratic Alliance Constitution,” he added.

Even so, UDA  Director of Communications Wanjohi Githae said Orina wrote in his personal capacity and not that of Congress or the Party. This even as the letter dated December 18 had. UDA’s letterhead.

“Orina wrote the letter in his individual capacity as a member of UDA but misused our party’s letter head because he is not an official,” Githae said.
