The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will deploy the remaining troops and equipment for the East African Community Regional Force’s (EACRF) peace enforcement mission in eastern Congo today, as it prepares to move deeper into the region in accordance with the timelines set in Angola this week.
The soldiers, who have been training at Moi Barracks in Eldoret, will join their colleagues at the EACRF headquarters in Goma before venturing into M23-occupied Bunagana, Rutshuru, and Kiwanja areas.
So far, the EACRF has secured critical infrastructure in Goma, including an airport and surrounding areas, as well as providing protection to internally displaced people.
