KeNHA completes footbridge hoisting

Footbridge at Witeithie along the Thika Super Highway.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has completed the hoisting of the footbridge at Witeithie, along the Thika Super Highway.

The foot bridge will now be opened to the public from tomorrow,(31 st December 2019); ahead of the schools opening.

“This footbridge looks perfectly hoisted and marks the end of grisly accidents along the busy highway”, said a matatu operator this morning.

Last night, Interways Construction Company concreted the deck to make the footbridge safe for public use.

Thereafter the bumps at Witeithie will be removed and the service roads well be done for separation and smooth flow of traffic.

There shall be no more crossing of the pedestrians at grade, or dropping and picking of pedestrians on the main carriageways. Matatus will from tomorrow be required to use the service roads when picking and dropping passengers. The move will end traffic jams at Witeithie, a notorious area for traffic snarl ups.

KeNHA has assured the public if its commitment to provide safer roads and connections across the board.

The Thika Super Highway is the busiest in East and Central Africa.

The delay in construction of the road was caused by the more than normal percolation that has been pounding the country.
