KeNHA Scales Up Safety On Flooded Highway

The Kenya National Highways Authority has moved to sort out the flooding menace that saw cars plunging into pools of water after a weekend of rains.

KENHA has deployed engineers attached to the Nairobi Expressway to clear out mud stuck on drainage infrastructure, caused by the construction.

The authority said the flooding was caused by clogged soil resulting in the backflow of the drainage system.

The Friday- Saturday rains caused havoc on the highway as drivers attempted to navigate through the various construction points.

The heavy rains are set to continue for the better part of this week.

The Nairobi expressway, now in its final stages is set to open by the end of December 2021.

The highway will connect Mlolongo to the James Gichuru road, alleviating traffic along Mombasa road.
