The Government will construct the greater Southern By pass to serve the Konza City Metropolis. Plans are also underway to extend the Dual carriage way beyond the Machakos turnoff, in a bid to open up the area.
A high powered inter ministerial delegation will visit Konza City today to map out the proposed road infrastructure improvement.
Kenya National Highways Director General Peter Mundinia and the agency Directorate of Development will join the inter ministerial team.

The Greater Southern By Pass will be adjacent to the Nairobi National Park. Already, the dual carriageway to Chumvi has been completed, eradicating traffic ups in Athi River. Two mega bridges have been constructed at Athi River and Mto Mawe as part of the support chain of the project.
The Mombasa Road improvement is supported by the Nairobi Express way, which starts at Mlolongo. It will create a seamless transport orbit between Kajiado, Machakos and Kiambu Counties, the so called Nairobi bedroom. “Infrastructure, in roads is key to the implementation of the Konza City project and KeNHA will play its role”, Director General Peter Mundinia said.
The Konza City project has opened up the greater Makueni and Machakos Counties. It has created a real estate buzz in the region, leading to sky rocketing of land prizes.
