KeNHA to close Thika Road on Friday

Thika Superhighway will be closed on Friday to facilitate the erection of a footbridge.

According to the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), the road will be closed at the Survey of Kenya.

This will affect vehicular movement along the busy superhighway.

The superhighway is the busiest in Africa, facilitating the movement of over one million road users in a day. The bridge is a much-needed solution to pedestrians who risk crossing.

The bridge construction, that was slated for completion earlier this year, is being constructed by Interways Works on behalf of KeNHA.

KeNHA Director General Peter Mundinia has urged motorists to seek alternative routes and avoid the closed area.

Once complete, the footbridge will ease the traffic build-up that is associated with the construction site and zebra crossings on the highway.
