KeNHA Warns Sand Truck Drivers Over Illegal Dumping On Highways

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has urged sand and other building material carriers not to dump surplus cargo on roadways.

KeNHA Manager in Charge of Axle Load Enforcement Eng. Kennedy Ndungire stated that rogue transporters engaging in the vice would face issues with overloading and endangering life.

Ndungire stated that the practice was widespread in Narok, Kajiado, and Masinga counties and that the authorities would deal with it sternly.

He said the practice was endangering other road users, besides littering public assets.

“We have set up a team to deal with transporters of building materials who are overloading”, Ndungire said.

He said Kenyan roads are being destroyed by greedy merchants who overload with impunity.

“We have sensitised them. Now it’s the next face of enforcement. Be warned, because the fines are punitive”, he said.
