Kenya and Uganda have jointly conducted a Strategic Risk Assessment (SRA) at the Busia One Stop Border Post, one of the busiest transit points in East Africa.
The exercise brought together health, security, and border management teams from both countries to identify priority hazards, assess vulnerabilities, and agree on coordinated mitigation measures.
The initiative reinforces the two nations’ commitments under the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005) and strengthens regional preparedness for public health emergencies.
By working collaboratively, Kenya and Uganda are enhancing early detection systems, ensuring effective response, and safeguarding the continuity of essential health services.
Against the backdrop of persistent threats such as Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo and other regional health risks, the SRA represents a vital step toward building a resilient cross-border community.
The joint effort underscores a shared determination to protect lives, secure borders, and fortify regional health security.
