Elon Musk urges Netflix boycott over transgender-themed kids’ show

Elon Musk has sparked controversy after urging Netflix subscribers to cancel their memberships in protest of transgender themes featured in some of the platform’s children’s programming.

The tech billionaire reposted criticism of shows such as The Baby-Sitters Club and Dead End: Paranormal Park, which include transgender characters and storylines.

He called for parents to cancel subscriptions “for their children’s sake,” amplifying an ongoing debate about representation in media aimed at young audiences.

The uproar gained traction after Dead End: Paranormal Park creator Hamish Steele made remarks online directed at conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Following Musk’s comments, some supporters posted screenshots on X (formerly Twitter) showing proof of their cancellations. Netflix’s stock dipped nearly 3 percent as the discussion trended across social media.

Critics, however, have questioned Musk’s motives, noting his business ties with companies that compete directly with Netflix.

Others defended the shows, arguing that the inclusion of transgender characters provides age-appropriate representation and fosters inclusivity.

The boycott call underscores a broader cultural clash over LGBTQ+ visibility in entertainment, as streaming platforms continue to balance creative expression, audience diversity, and political pushback.
