Kenya Marks Significant Milestone With the Launch of Treaty Database

The Treaty Database Launch was overseen by Principal Secretary Dr. Korir Singoei today, signalling an important turning point in the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs’ history.

This historic accomplishment was made possible by the Office of the Registrar of Treaties working with the UNDP, the African Union, the Swedish government, and Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Kenya is a member of 84 international organisations and has ratified 252 treaties. The database is a useful tool that will strengthen accessibility, streamline treaty administration processes, and show the nation’s dedication to the global community.

“With this database, Kenya reinforces its dedication to fulfilling international obligations with utmost integrity,” said PS Singoei.

Information on Kenya’s treaty responsibilities will be analysed and accessible to diplomats, legal experts, internal stakeholders, residents, diaspora, educational institutions, and the public and business sectors.

The Treaty Database is an electronic platform that enables the execution of the Digital Superhighway and creative economy, two of BETA’s five strategic pillars.

It is an important and relevant information resource base with the goal of enhancing Kenya’s capacity to adopt digital diplomacy and engage in competitive global digital markets.

The Principal Secretary expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the project’s realisation, seeing it as a representation of our shared commitment to establishing an efficient, open, and inclusive future for diplomacy.
