Kenya Qualify For Afcon after Caf Penalise Comoros

Harambee Stars have qualified for the 2020 Afcon after Confederations of African Football (CAF) banned Comoros.

This was after they allegedly falsified a Covid-19 report claiming Kenyan players were positive.

Caf secretary general, Veron Mosengo-Omba, communicated the decision on Wednesday , a day after Football Kenya Federation(FKF) president, Nick Mwendwa, raised an alarm about the issue.

Caf said they found out that the doctors who conducted the tests erred in their judgement hence decided to award Harambee Stars three points from the subsequent match with Comoros.

Caf banned FKF CEO Barry Otieno and Harambee Stars team manager Ronny Oyando earlier in the year, after being accused of tearing the PCR tests after captain Victor Wanyama, Ayub Timbe, Brian Mandela and Eric Johanna tested positive.

The decision left Kenya second on the final standings with 10 points. Two points behind leaders Egypt. Comoros are now third on six points while Togo are last on two points.
