Kagwe spoke at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport(JKIA) where he received donations from China to help in combating the Coronavirus pandemic.

Other donations include 1.5million 3ply masks, 76,000 N95 masks, 4,000 shoe covers, and 300 static shoes.

The CS said the government would not have been able to conduct mass testing without the testing and sampling tubes thanking China for the donations.

“These tubes are key to our ability to mass test Kenyans. Without these sampling tubes, we were not going to be able to start our mass testing.” Kagwe stated.

Kagwe said that a big challenge lies ahead and there is a need to conduct rapid testing to ensure no contacts are left out which could to the disease spreading further.

The CS also stated that additional ventilators are expected in the country in the next few days.

Kagwe announced 12 more positive cases raising the toll positive cases to 246. 5 of them are hotel workers while others were from contacts traced.
