The Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board (KYEB) will tomorrow, 8th, September, 2021, launch a special edition of the Yearbook.
The book will highlight the long-term transformative impact of social and economic programmes and projects of the Kenya Vision 2030’s Third Medium Term Plan (MTP III) by the Government of Kenya.
In this vein, the colourful and picture-rich Yearbook 2021 will be launched on KYEB handles (@Kenyayearbook on Twitter and Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board on Facebook) prior to the release of the printed edition.
The digital launch is in respect of changing consumer patterns that are dictating how content is disseminated. It also reflects KYEB’s embrace of innovation as the guarantor of relevance in the publishing sector.
The theme of this year’s publication is “Completing the Journey”, capturing not only the milestones in the MTP pillars, but also some significant events in the global sport that took place this year, having been delayed by the ravaging scourge of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

They include the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, and Kenya’s very own Safari Rally, staged one year after its official return to the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar, itself another major milestone in local and international sport.
The Government, in partnership with the Kenya Motorsports Federation, lobbied hard for the return of the Safari Rally to the WRC circuit after nearly two decades in the cold. The event created much-needed jobs for hundreds of Kenyans and restored the country to its rightful place among the pantheons of motorsport destinations.
These journeys are all in tune with the spirit of MTP III (2018-2022) whose theme is “Transforming Lives: Advancing Socioeconomic Development through the Big 4 Agenda”. MTP III is in its final cycle, to be replaced by MTP IV after 30th June 2022.
This maintains a tradition that marks out Kenya as one of the lucky African countries that craft development policies on a platform of continuity, ensuring no disruption in the planning and implementation cycles of projects and programmes.

This is no mean feat and a testament to the efficiency and professionalism of the policy experts in Government who regularly transcend the noise in Kenya’s political space to deliver plans whose positive long-term social and economic impact are felt for generations.
The report on the Implementation Status of the Big 4 Agenda by the Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate of the Ministry of Planning, and the latest information from the President’s Delivery Unit (PDU), confirm a sustained focus by Government to ensure that the COVID-19 pandemic did not disrupt projects critical to the positive long-term impact of MTP III.
This impact will be felt well beyond its medium-term lifeline for implementation.
MTP III has laid a firm foundation for transformational sector policies, programmes, and projects under the Medium-Term Sector Budget predicated on the aspirations of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Africa Union’s Agenda 2063.

The Government also remains keen on strengthening National Cohesion to guarantee the stability needed for citizens to enjoy the fruits of social and economic programmes and projects.
The Yearbook is an example of successful partnerships with the media industry, President’s Delivery Unit, Ministries, Counties, Departments, Agencies, Independent Commissions, and Parliament.
KYEB will continue to strengthen these partnerships in order to deliver publications that tell the true story of Kenya’s progress.
