Kenyan Senator Linked To Gold Scam; Three Arrested

Three suspects linked to Trans-Nzoia senator Allan Chesang have been arrested over an alleged gold scam.

The suspects were apprehended on Saturday afternoon in Nairobi’s affluent Runda estate, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

At Momesa Vale house number 199, Fauzia Wanjiru alias Issa, Shallo Fatma alias Tett, and Jackson Ochieng were arrested.

DCI stated that they have been provided with information indicating that the suspects are connected to Senator Chesang.

The defendants were apprehended after a complaint was filed by a South African national named Ralph Manyaka, who was about to be scammed of a large sum of money by the suspects.

According to previous allegations, Manyaka allegedly transported 30kgs of gold from Sierra Leone to Dubai via Kenya. He did, however, receive word that his shipment had been seized in Nairobi.

He immediately travelled to Kenya, where he met a man portraying himself as a customs official, George Otieno, who informed the victim that his shipment could not be dispatched due to a few customs issues and that he needed to pay Ksh.5.3 million ($36,000) to have the goods freed.

Manyaka is claimed to have discovered false gold in the consignments during the raid and hoped he would be caught.
