The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), Ag. CEO Mr. Christopher Wambua has urged local content creators to take advantage of internet penetration to monetize their creative works as well as produce content that promotes societal values.
Mr. Wambua was speaking during the inaugural Africa Creator Hub graduation, held on 4th April 2023, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi.
An initiative of ByteDance in collaboration with Wowzi, the Africa Creator Hub, is designed to nurture and develop talent across Sub-Saharan Africa as well as recognize and celebrate the African creative community.
The initiative also offers content creators the opportunity to scale their creativity with access to funding to enable them earn from their craft.
The CEO applauded the organizers of the event, noting that KFCB is committed to supporting such initiatives that are aimed at promoting talent among the youth for job creation while championing clean film content.
“Entrepreneurial skilling, coupled with digital skilling can go a long way in uplifting the lives of many young people in the creative space”, said Mr. Wambua, adding that KFCB is cognizant of this fact and that is why the Board is collaborating with like-minded organizations to support such initiatives.
