In Juja town, Kiambu County, a 39-year-old man fatally stabbed his 30-year-old girlfriend before turning the knife on himself.
According to Phyllis Muthoni, chief of the Juja Sub-county Police, Daniel Mwangi stabbed his girlfriend, an MPESA shop attendant, with a kitchen knife, killing her instantly.
Mwangi attempted suicide by slitting his throat, but police officers from Juja police station intervened and transported him to Thika Level 5 Hospital, where he died.
Police have initiated investigations to find out what caused the 30-year-old woman’s death. However it is thought that the two were fighting over infidelity.
The woman’s body was taken to Thika’s General Kago Funeral home after police discovered it lying in a pool of blood with four stab wounds.
Muchangi Kioi, the head of the Kiambu Area police, recently expressed concern about the rise in murder cases in the county and requested the assistance of counsellors in handling the cases.
