Man Denies Stepping, Assaulting Pregnant Wife

A man has been arraigned at Kibra Law Courts for causing grievous harm to his pregnant wife by stepping on her abdomen and squeezing her throat.

Dan Simiyu allegedly trod on his wife’s abdomen, held her throat, and beat her up.

He was charged before Kibera chief magistrate Ann Mwangi, and he rejected the specifics of the charges.

According to the charge sheet, the accused committed the offence on November 10 at Darajani, Kibera sub-county, Nairobi.

He is claimed to have attacked Junicai Simiyu, his wife, who was relaxing on a chair in their home.

According to the court, the accused questioned the complainant why she had slept with the other men, but she told him it was impossible because she was pregnant.

He allegedly assaulted her and told her to pack her belongings and leave, with further instructions to terminate the pregnancy.

Some of the complainant’s neighbours heard her cries for help and came to her aid.

The accused was released on Sh20,000 cash bail, and the judge ordered that the case be heard on November 21.
