National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa has urged President William Ruto to reject Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s plan to join thegovernment through the backdoor.
The Kikuyu MP stated that the opposition is plotting how to use the bipartisan talks agreed to by both sides to find a way to share power.
Ichung’wa warned that Kenya Kwanza voters, who elected the President, have stated unequivocally that they do not want a handshake government or National Unity.
The MP stated that the people of Kenya have given the President a clear mandate to spark a massive economic recovery in order to change the lives of citizens.
‘The sword that Uhuru Kenyatta handed me is to be used to slice the cake for all Kenyans, not to share power through a handshake,’ the MP said on Saturday in Meru county.
”The sword’s purpose is to transform the country’s economy, create jobs, and improve people’s livelihoods.”
As part of the power transition, retired President Uhuru Kenyatta presented Ruto with a ceremonial sword and the constitution.
According to the MP, Ruto has given the dialogue team express orders to continue talks with Azimio la Umoja representatives while adhering to the law.
”The talks will be about creating an enabling environment for the President to uplift the lives of Kenyans, not about creating a handshake government,” he said.
Ichung’wa stated that the talks will take place in accordance with the law and the Constitution.
